The Wirrianda Philosophy Prize

Named in recognition of my parents’ support, the Wirrianda Philosophy Prize was established in 1991 at the philosophy department La Trobe University. According to Australasian Association of Philosophy 2006 figures, only 23% of teaching and research positions in Australian philosophy departments were held by women. This philosophy prize for women is a small gesture to encourage a more equal representation of women in the profession. I encourage other philosophy graduates to consider supporting the next generation by contributing to philanthropic entities such as this.
